TapTab is a macOS app and Safari extension published by Mani Batra. This policy explains how the extension uses information to help you find and manage your Safari tabs.
TapTab reads open-tab titles, URLs, and tab state to provide search, switching, pinning, muting, and closing. Search runs on your device. TapTab does not send your search terms, tab titles, full page URLs, or page contents to the developer. It does not require an account and contains no advertising or analytics SDK.
To display website icons, TapTab requests favicons from Google’s t3.gstatic.com service. The request contains the website domain and reveals your IP address to Google as part of the network connection. It does not contain the full page URL, page title, search text, or page contents. This icon lookup also existed in earlier TapTab releases.
Google handles these requests under its Privacy Policy. TapTab’s developer does not receive or control Google’s request logs.
Your shortcut preferences are saved in Safari’s local extension storage. Recent-tab switching uses only the IDs of the two most recently used tabs and their windows in session storage. These IDs are cleared with the browser session; tab titles and URLs are not saved in this history. TapTab 2.0 removes the older version’s persistent recent-tab data when its background component starts.
You can change or reset shortcuts through Safari Settings → Extensions → TapTab → Settings. Safari controls whether TapTab can run in each profile and in Private Browsing. You can disable or uninstall TapTab through Safari’s extension settings to stop it accessing tabs and requesting icons.
The TapTab marketing website uses Google Analytics separately from the extension. Website hosting and analytics providers may process connection and usage information, including IP addresses. This standalone policy page contains no analytics script. If you contact saveme@taptab.dev, the information you include in your message is used to respond to your enquiry.
